Looking for ‘gems’ from Willunga in 2007.

There are many ‘gems’ that have been created in Willunga High School, and the newly created “Friends of Willunga High School” want to find them.

Word-of-mouth suggests that there are many Willunga High School graduates that are achieving a great deal in academic, sporting and community service terms.

“Willunga High School has been setting high standards of academic excellence for many years, but these have largely gone unrecognized. It is time to change that. If you are aware of the achievements of graduates of Willunga High School – they may be your children, grandchildren or friends – please let us know. We are establishing a database via our website www.friendsofwhs.org”, so said Margaret Staples, inaugural Chairperson of the Friends of Willunga High School. Email can be sent to info@friendsofwhs.org.

Margaret, and a few ex-students and parents of graduates are determined to create a record of the achievements of former students so that the school might have wider recognition for its’ achievements, and those of its’ students.

Mrs. Staples also commented that “We are proud of our High School, and our students it seems such a shame that the excellent work of our local High School goes largely unrecognized. We want to change that”.
She admits that it will take the assistance of local and past residents to achieve their aims.

The ‘Friends ask people to inform them of any kind of significant achievement – including community work, charitable work, academic awards, sporting achievements – in fact the whole gamut of human achievement that is waiting to be revealed.
Margaret asks: “Please go to our website and record your own achievements or those of someone you know, we know that there are many good news stories to be told, and a solid basis for our pride in our school”.
